Emerging as a collaboration between Glen Oldfield, principal of Composite Components, and Penelope Forlano of Forlano Design. Composite Design generates high end furniture using composite based technologies. Each piece incorporates a commitment to sustainability and innovation, evident in the simplicity and classic aesthetic of the pieces.
Composite Deisgn were invited to and exhibited at the Milan Furniture Fair Italy in 2004 and 2006. The Lux table was awarded the prestigious Australian Design Award in 2006 in the lighting, furniture and design catagory www.designawards.com.au. Both the Lux table and Linea range of tables are sold nationally and internationally.

Developments and designs in contemporary architecture have seen an increasing shift to the use of composites replacing existing materials where complex shapes or other specialised demands are required for fulfillment of the building design.
One such example has been the manufacture of glass fibre and aluminium honeycomb composite panels for the Perth Transit Authority 'information pods' in the Perth underground. Composite Components was contracted to manufacture the corner mouldings to the architects'' design while giving consideration to vandalism, expected life cycle and adherence to relative fire and fume codes.
From supplied 2D drawings we created 3D models which were used to make CNC machined master models and then moulds from which the glass fibre pre preg and aluminium honeycomb panels were made. Each of the 'pods' corner mouldings are manufactured in 3 components with an overall length of 7metres. An installation requirement of the panels was mechanical fastenings fixed in such a way to create a 14mm negative detail which will serve to be aesthetic and functional in relation to replacement or repair of the panel sections. After application of an 'anti-graffiti' paint system, the panels were assembled on site and suspended above the entry / exit escalators within the Perth underground station.
Working with OKA trucks to create a complete manufacturing solution from CAD to a finished front headlight surround. The CAD was used to make a master pattern from which an inner and outer mould were made to facilitate the light RTM system which can generate multiple parts per hour to meet production schedules.
